Annual Winterfest celebration hosted in Alden this weekend
Alden will host the eighth annual Winterfest this weekend, featuring more than 30 different events.
The washers tournament kicks off the festivities at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3. Activities for participants of all ages include ice skating and a bonfire at Alden Town Park, off West Main Street near Broadway.
Alden Christian Theatre Society, 1470 Church St., will host karaoke from 7 to 11 p.m. The community center, 13116 Main St., will host children’s activities and the film “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” from 7 to 9 p.m.
On Saturday, the Alden Presbyterian Church, 13298 Broadway, will hold its annual pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. The Town Park will host events all day such as snowmobile rides, dog sled races, wagon rides, snowman building, kickball, soccer, box car races, ice skating and a hockey shoot-out.
Alden High School,
13190 Park St., will host free activities for children from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., including a bounce house, face painting, cotton candy, popcorn and swimming in the pool.
A beer, wine and chocolate tasting will be held at the Snowball Dance at Village Hall. Hit & Run will perform.
Also on Saturday, a Chinese auction and marketplace will be held at Alden Village Hall, 13336 Broadway, Alden. A character meet-and-greet will be held for children.
