Feldmann Mary Feldmann, formerly of Lancaster, is this year’s selection for the 2012 West Seneca Chamber of Commerce Member of the Year, as chosen by her fellow directors.

Feldmann is credited with stepping up to the plate to serve as acting president last year before a new president was elected.

“In 2011, with a transition in executive staff and direction of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce, Mary contributed a vital role in maintaining a leadership position as a mentor as well as a vital ‘spoke in the wheel,’ which kept our organization rolling forward,” said Frank Calieri, executive director.

This is Feldmann’s first official recognition by the Chamber, of which she’s been a member since 2005 and board member since 2007. She’s since served in such posts as treasurer and vice president.

“I wanted to be involved with the community and help support other businesses in the area,” she said of her rationale for joining.

Feldmann is a graduate of Buffalo State College, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in social work. She subsequently was hired as a social worker at the McGuire Group’s Seneca Health Care Center in West Seneca in 1998. Feldmann left briefly to work at a different facility in Williamsville, only to return to the Seneca Health Care Center in 2005. She currently serves as the admissions coordinator and director of social work.

One of Feldmann’s major responsibilities — and favorite Chamber event — is chairing the annual Women in Business luncheon. She also actively participates in other such events as the annual golf tournament and a chicken barbecue.

Her immersion into the Chamber stemmed from wanting to see it succeed as well as increase its membership. She’s been an integral part in helping to organize activities and encourage participation.

“I’m very thankful to receive the award,” Feldmann said.
