Depew Hook & Ladder plans raffle

Depew Hook & Ladder Volunteer Fire Company will hold its 10th annual “Tool & More” raffle from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Southside Fire Hall, 45 Meridian St., Depew. Tickets cost $20, which includes entry into the main draw of 20 major tool and electronic prizes, entry for door prizes, food, refreshments and snacks. St. Paul’s Lutheran sets healing service

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 53 West Falls Road, will host “Shine the Light on Cancer” on Saturday, Feb. 4. Two services will be held, at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. From 7 to 10 p.m., the church will have a candlelight vigil of prayer and remembrance. People are asked to bring luminarias made out of used glass jars for each person affected by cancer, to either pray for or remember. Women’s Civic Club plans get-together

The Lancaster Women’s Civic Club will meet in the Lancaster Municipal Building, 5423 Broadway near Central Avenue, at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 8. Light refreshments will be served. John Trojanowsky, executive director of the Lancaster Youth Bureau, will present a program on the organization.

St. Elizabeth’s Guild to meet

Members of the St. Elizabeth’s Guild will gather at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at St. Elizabeth’s, 5539 Broadway, Lancaster.

Redskin Boosters selling dinner certificates

Support the Lancaster Redskins Booster Club with the purchase of dinner certificates to Russell’s Steak, Chops and More and Salvatore’s Italian Gardens. St. Vincent de Paul to present Vegas Night

St. Vincent de Paul School, 6441 Seneca St., will hold “Vegas Night” from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4. Tickets, which are $20 presale and $25 at the door, include $5 in gaming chips, beer, wine, snacks, coffee, desserts and a chance to win four Buffalo Sabres tickets. Lancaster Garden Club members to gather

The Federated Lancaster Garden Club will hold its annual “welcome back” meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at St. John's Lutheran Hall, 55 Pleasant Ave. Members will work on “goody bags” for the national convention coming to Buffalo in May. Members are asked to bring scissors and check other details through the club mailings.

Dance to benefit Lancaster Opera House

The band Rare Vintage will perform at the third annual mid-winter dance to benefit the Lancaster Opera House. The event will be held from 8 to 11 p.m.Saturday, Feb. 4 at Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral, 6298 Broadway. Tickets cost $12 and include food. A cash bar will be available. Gift baskets donated by the Lancaster Opera House Guild will be auctioned off. Tickets are available at the door or at the box office, which is open weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m on the second floor of the opera house, 21 Central Ave. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.LancOpera.org. Lancaster YMCA fundraiser nears

The fourth annual re-gifting auction to benefit the Lancaster YMCA will be held Sunday, Feb. 12. It runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 33 Legion Parkway, Lancaster. Pre-sale tickets cost $10, or $15 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the YMCA’s Strong Kids scholarship program. Tickets include finger foods, one drink and one door prize entry to win tickets to the Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadians game on March 12. Organization plans social events

VFW Post 7275, located at 3741 Walden Ave, hosts J.C. Thompson & Company with “Open Mike” alternating with “Wild Bill Karaoke” from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Fridays. Ladies nights are held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., featuring two-for-one drinks, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A “Country Western Tribute” featuring the hits of Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash, will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. Tickets cost $7. Art society plans meeting, presentation

The Twin Village Art Society will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6. The evening will include a presentation by Richard Schmid via DVD on “outdoor painting from life.” The meeting will be held at the Lancaster Municipal Building at Broadway and Central Avenue in the second-floor meeting room. Singles dance to be held at Falcons Club

The Polish Falcons of Depew, 445 Columbia Ave., will host a singles dance from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10. 2nd Time Around will perform. Admission costs $8. Drink specials will be available.

Girl Scouts to mark centennial

The Girl Scouts organization turns 100 this year. Ann Marie Przybyl, as founder Juliette Gordon Low, will present a history of the Girl Scouts at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12 at the Lancaster Historical Museum, 40 Clark St. (behind the Lancaster Opera House on Central Avenue). The museum was a former meeting space for many of Lancaster’s Girl Scout troops for many decades. Adult Girl Scouts and former leaders are especially invited. Girl Scout cookies will be served as refreshments.

Breast Cancer Network plans meeting

The Breast Cancer Network of Western New York will hold an educational meeting at its Bella Moglie building, 3297 Walden Ave., at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14.
