The Empire State Games Legacy Fund, created from excess revenue generated from the 2010 ESGs in Buffalo, will award two $2,500 scholarships for the next 10 years to one male and female who participated in the ESGs, and demonstrated excellence and leadership in the community.

Applications are due Friday, May 18, with the recipients being announced on Wednesday June 6.

Applicants must be a resident of Erie or Niagara County, have participated in the ESGs as an athlete, coach or volunteer, be a full-time high school, college or graduate student, and have maintained at least a 2.0 GPA or C average. The scholarship may be applied to tuition for colleges and universities outside of the state.

Candidates must complete an online application form at www.esgscholarship.com and then mail two reference letters, an essay and transcripts to the Empire State Games Legacy Fund, c/o Buffalo Niagara Sports Commission, 617 Main St., Suite 200, Buffalo, NY 14203.
