Wanat Palooza fundraiser set for next week

Wanat Palooza, which benefits the Chris Wanat Memorial Fund, will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Bowen Road Grove, corner of Bowen Road and Broadway, Lancaster. Because of the fund, organizers have been able to donate more than $100,000 to charitable organizations. Entry costs $10. Beverages and food are available for purchase. Kevin McCarthy and Badlands will perform from 6 to 11 p.m. A bounce house and face painting will be available for kids.

Registration underway for disc golf tourney

The John K. Mitchell Disc Golf Tournament & Picnic will be held Sunday, Aug. 26 at the Bowen Street Grove at Como Park. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., with instruction at 10:30 a.m., tee-off at 11 a.m. and a meal catered by Frank’s Grille at 2 p.m. The cost is $35 for golf and the meal or $25 for just the meal. Redskin Boosters selling dinner certificates

Support the Lancaster Redskins Booster Club with the purchase of dinner certificates to Russell’s Steak, Chops and More and Salvatore’s Italian Gardens. At Salvatore’s, a three-course dinner certificate costs $50 (a $60 value). At Russell’s, get a $70 certificate for $60. Contact Patrick Farruggio at 681-4784.

Golf tournament to benefit St. Mary’s

St. Mary’s Elementary School will hold its 10th annual golf tournament on Friday, Aug. 10. It will be held at Rothland Golf Course, 12089 Clarence Center Road, Akron. Registration begins at noon. Lunch will be held before tee time, which is at 1:30 p.m. The price is $100 for The day will consist of 18 holes of golf, lunch, and dinner. For nine holes and dinner, registration begins at 3 p.m/ with tee time at 3:30 p.m. The price is $60. For more information, call the school at 683-2112.

American Legion Post 1528 sets meetings

Depew American Legion Post 1528 meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. New members are sought. Meetings are held at Depew Village Hall, 85 Manitou St. in room 200. Any veteran wishing to join may contact Commander Jacob Schu at 440-3302.

Rotary Club seeking golfers, sponsors

The Lancaster-Depew Rotary Club is planning its annual golf outing on Monday, Aug. 6, at the Diamond Hawk Golf Course in Cheektowaga. The cost per golfer is $110 and includes golf and cart, lunch, open bar, dinner and prizes. Registration opens at 10 a.m., with a shotgun start at noon. Community Chorus plans summer concert

The Lancaster Depew Community Chorus will perform its fourth annual summer concert at 7 p.m. Monday, July 30 at Faith United Methodist Church, 5505 Broadway, Lancaster. Admission is free and a light reception will follow.

Charity to hold flea market

Variety — The Children’s Charity of Buffalo & Western New York will hold a Gigantic Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5 outside the Variety parking lot, 6114 Broadway, Lancaster. Spaces cost $15 for single and $25 for double. Bring your own tables to sell your own items. A limited number of tables are available for a $5 fee. Set-up time is at 7 a.m. Reservations are due by Aug. 1. Call 854-7577. A chicken barbecue will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. for $10.

St. James Boys Choir plans reunion

Rev. Leo McCarthy and the St. James Boys Choir are having a reunion Saturday, Aug. 11. A reception, including dinner, will follow the 4 p.m. Mass at St. James, 496 Terrace Blvd., Depew. Former members are asked to contact Joe Aquino at 685-4559.
