Cars, crafts and chicken to benefit St. Mary’s

The Alumni Association of St. Mary’s High School will hold its annual car show, chicken dinner and craft show, rain or shine, from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at 142 Laverack Ave. The proceeds will go directly to the students of St. Mary’s High School. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, a food court open to anyone and numerous door prizes. Craft show seeking homemade goods

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 55 Pleasant Ave., Lancaster, is looking for vendors to participate in its craft show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. Vendors must sell homemade items to apply. Call Cindy or Susan at 683-8972 or email stjohnslancaster@verizon.net.

Blessed Mother Teresa Parish calling for crafters

Outdoor Masses slated at St. Mary’s

St. Mary of the Assumption Church will offer outdoor Masses at 7 p.m. Saturdays during August. Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket, as there is no outdoor seating available. For information, contact the rectory between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays at 683-6445. St. Mary’s is located at the corner of St. Joseph and Aurora streets in the Village of Lancaster. Carolers needed to raise their voices

The Lancaster/Depew Carolers are seeking new members for Christmas caroling. Members must be 18 or older and live in Lancaster or Depew. The group sings for a short time at nursing homes and senior living facilities. A director is also being sought to guide the group through the music. The carolers meet every Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church, 5505 Broadway, with the first meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19. Thespians needed for Amherst production

The Amherst Players needs actors for a September production of “Little Women.” Four girls between the ages of 10 and 17 are needed, and two women in their early to mid-30s are also being sought. The group is also seeking a woman in her 50s, or a woman who can play an older role, as well as four men between the ages of 15 and 50. For more information, call Kathleen after 6 p.m. at 885-3179.

Play N Learn to offer fall program

Play N Learn is a mom’s day out program for children ages 2 to 4 years old. The program offers games, arts, crafts, stories and music. It is held at Next Level Church, 751 French Road, Cheektowaga, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays. It runs for six weeks beginning Sept. 13. For more information or to preregister, call 982-9183.

Free neighborhood picnic planned

A free neighborhood picnic will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 67 Litchfield Ave., Depew, from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers and snacks along with crafts, a bounce house and live music.

Disk golf tournament to benefit scholarship

A disk golf tournament will take place on Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Bowen Street Grove at Como Park. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with instruction at 10:30 a.m. and tee-off at 11 a.m. The meal will begin at 2 p.m. The cost is $35 for golf and the meal, $25 for just the meal, and for the first time, the golf alone is available for $10. Free night of family fun offered

Every Tuesday night through Aug. 20, free movies will be shown on an inflatable screen on the grass beside Green Acres Ice Cream at 4357 Broadway, Depew. Participants should bring their own blankets and pillows, and there will be contests for cutest, craziest and best movie-theme pajamas.

Boosters to serve steak, raffle off baskets

The Lancaster High School Marching Band Boosters will hold its annual steak roast dinner on Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Lancaster Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7275, at 3741 Walden Ave. The dinner includes an 8-ounce steak, potatoes, salad, roll and butter. American Red Cross blood drive to be held

A blood drive will be held to benefit the American Red Cross of Erie and Niagara counties from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Lancaster Elks Lodge, 33 Legion Parkway, Lancaster.

Fibromyalgia support group to meet

The Fibromyalgia Support Group meets from noon to 1:30 p.m. the first Thursday of every month at the Amherst Main Library at Audubon, Study Group Room, 350 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst. Golf tournament will tee off to end cancer

The “Tee Off Against Cancer” golf tournament is set for 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course in Lewiston. Participants, sponsors and prize donors are sought, with all proceeds benefiting research and patient care at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The event will be a four-person scramble format with a shotgun start. The cost is $140 per person, or $500 per foursome, and includes the 18-hole greens fees, golf carts and lunch. ACTS to hold barbecue, concert

The Alden Christian Theatre Society, 1470 Church St., Village of Alden, will hold the annual theme tray raffle and chicken barbecue from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The cost is $9 for the barbecue presented by Krolick’s, $3 for the theme tray admission, and $5 for cards of tickets to enter the raffles. On Saturday, Aug. 17, the Alden Area Ecumenical Choir will also present “Sing Patriotic!” at 1470 Church St. The doors open at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5. Refreshments from Parkside Cupcakes will be available.
