Lancaster, Depew students inducted into National Technical Honor Society

Nearly 145 high school seniors representing 21 school districts from across the region were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. The ceremony celebrated the academic accomplishments of students from Erie 1 BOCES’ three career and technical centers: Harkness, Kenton and Potter.

During the induction ceremony, Cheryl Winstel, associate in Trade and Technical Education for the state Education Department, was the evening’s keynote speaker. Following a presentation of certificates, the students took the society’s pledge of excellence.

The 12 students inducted from Lancaster High School were Brittany Berbach, Rachel Bucci, John DiPaolo, Kaylin Guarino, Brooke Kazmierczak, Zachery Kellerman, Alexander Labrecque, Jerod Macholz, Aleysha Marino, Stephanie Mazur, Larissa Kate Robinson and Caitlin Stresing.


Matthew Zelazny and Alyssa Sengbusch of Depew were recently inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. The five students inducted from Depew High School were Anthony Bish, Kyle Kutner, Sara Puskar, Alyssa Sengbusch and Matthew Zelazny.

They represented Erie 1 BOCES programs such as Early Childhood Education, Aviation Technology Training, Criminal Justice, Fashion Design and Merchandising, Culinary Arts, Sports Science Careers, Auto Technician Training, and Baking and Pastry Arts.

To be eligible for this recognition, a student must be nominated by their teacher, have at least a 90 grade point average in the nominating course, an overall average of 85, and be active in a career and technical organization.
