Lancaster woman appointed to Meals on Wheels board


Melanie Beardsley Melanie Beardsley Melanie Beardsley, a Lancaster resident, has been appointed to the board of directors for Meals on Wheels for WNY.

Beardsley is a senior associate in the Labor and Employment and Education Practice Group at Hodgson Russ, LLP. In this role, she represents school districts and private- and public-sector clients in various matters related to education and labor relations.

She has extensive experience representing clients before state and federal agencies such as the NYS Department of Labor, NYS Division of Human Rights, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board and Public Employment Relations Board, according to MOW.

Beardsley has served as a member of Meals on Wheels for WNY’s Personnel Committee for two years and will continue to serve that committee as a board member.

In addition to Beardsley’s involvement, Hodgson Russ has been a long-term supporter of Meals on Wheels.

“We are excited to have Melanie join our board. Her expertise is unique for our board, and she also helps fill a crucial role with her human resources knowledge and sage advice,” said Tara A. Ellis, president and CEO of Meals on Wheels for WNY.

In addition to her serving with Meals on Wheels, Beardsley is an appointed commissioner on the Erie County Commission on the Status of Women.

MOW serves more than 900,000 nutritious meals to more than 3,600 in-need homebound clients locally each year. The frail and ill elderly or disabled are able to maintain their health and enjoy the highest level of independence possible. There are more than 1,600 volunteers who assist with deliveries, providing food and companionship out of 25 home delivery sites throughout WNY.

MOW also provides 250,000 meals a year to those healthy enough to reach a congregate dining site and another 300,000 per year to other community organizations.
