Library on Wheels to visit Depew

The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library’s Library on Wheels will visit Firemen’s Park, 90 Gould Ave., Depew, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12. It will have free borrowing and returning of books, DVDs, CDs and audiobooks as well as access to downloadable books and music, laptops, free Wi-Fi and the ability to upload to one’s library account. Lions Club sets annual beef roast

The Cheektowaga Lions Club will hold its annual beef roast at 2 p.m. Thursday Aug. 18, at the Bowen Grove, 2925 Bowen Road, Lancaster. At 2 p.m., hot dogs, hamburgers, corn, clam chowder, watermelon, beer and soft drinks will be served. At 6 p.m., the beef roast will be served. Music and prizes will be available. Tickets cost $25 in advance or $28 at the door. For tickets, call 685-2130

Church to host community dinner

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will host its monthly community dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m., or until gone, Friday, Aug. 26, at the church, 3512 Clinton St., West Seneca. The menu includes Sahlen’s hot dogs with beans and German potato salad as well as ice cream floats and drinks.

Two dates slated for barbecue

Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral will hold a BW’s chicken barbecue from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 17 and Sept 21. Dinners are $10, available for takeout only, and include potato, vegetable, roll and dessert. The dinners will be held at 6298 Broadway, Lancaster. Griefshare support group planned

Our Lady of Pompeii Church will hold a Griefshare Support Group, for those who have experienced the death of a loved one, at 6:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Ministry Center, 129 Laverack Ave. The group is for those who have experienced the death of a loved one, or knows someone who has. St. John’s accepting registrations

St. John the Baptist School in Alden is accepting registrations for new school families in all grades: prekindergarten 3 and 4, full-day kindergarten and grades one through eight. Children currently attending St. John’s School are from Lancaster, Depew, Clarence, West Seneca, Iroquois and several other school districts. For information or to set up a tour, call 937-9483.
