Story Times

Lapsit Story Time for 3- to 23-month-olds with a parent or a caregiver is being held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays Oct. 18 to Nov. 1.

Toddler Time for 2- to 3-year-olds with a parent or a caregiver is being held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays Oct. 18 to Nov. 1.

Pre-School Story Time for 3- to 5-year-olds with a parent or a caregiver is being held at 10:30 a.m. Fridays Oct. 21 to Nov. 4.

Cozy Time for children involves stories and activities all in comfy jammies, starting Wednesday Oct. 5, and continuing Nov. 2 and Dec. 7.

Children’s Specials

Movin’ & Groovin’ with Miss Gwen for 2- to 5-year-olds promotes learning and physical fitness and includes dancing, yoga and interpretive movement; from 11:30 a.m. to noon Fridays Oct. 21 to Nov. 4.

Music with Mar offers free music education classes for little ones, adding fun props such as puppets and bubble books for learning. The event begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Tech Sunday Makerspace gives 5- to 10-year-olds a chance to try out new gadgets such as Osmo, Sphero, Little Bites, Cubelets and Snap Circuits, starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, Nov. 20 and Dec. 11.

Free Math Tutoring for grades three to nine will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday until Dec. 20. NYS-certified math teacher Catherine Thielmann will be on hand.

Halloween Craft for children ages 5 to 12 starts at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Magical Creatures will make their way to the library by way of stories, crafts and games. Activities are geared for children ages 6 to 10 at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Thanksgiving Craft for children ages 5 to 12 starts at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Holiday Craft for children ages 5 to 12 will take place at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Teens

Teen Gaming, where participants can ‘exergame,’ will take place from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Fridays until Dec. 30.

Junior Friends of the Library, for 12- to 18-year-olds, is an opportunity for participants to volunteer, fundraise and sponsor youth-oriented programs. To join, call Miss Gwen at the library or email cassidyg@buffalolib.org. Meetings are at 1 p.m Sunday Oct. 23, Nov. 20 and Dec. 11.

Family

The Fall Movie Festival continues at 2 p.m. on select Saturdays with “Batman vs. Superman” on Oct. 15; “Jungle Book,” Nov. 12; and “Angry Birds,” Dec. 3.

A Halloween Concert will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, with music performed by the Music Academy of Western New York.

Spooky magic will be performed by Cris Johnson at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. This fun Halloween activity is for all ages.

Adult

Chess and Classic Board Game Club meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of every month. Participants should bring their own boards, and those younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Friends of Lancaster Library is accepting new members from 1 to 2 p.m. the second Thursday of every month. Library Friends are always looking for new members.

Lancaster Library Board meetings will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. every third Thursday of the month.

Book Group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month and is accepting new members. Call Annette at 860-2476 or email twistedrose64@msn.com to register and obtain a list of upcoming books.

Adult Social Knitting Group meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month. All experience levels are welcome.

Seasonal Flu Shots will be administered in the library’s community room for ages 9 and older from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 18. Part B Medicare, Univera, Independent Health and Blue Cross/Blue Shield are accepted, with no appointment necessary.

Book a Technology Trainer for one-on-one assistance to assist with software support, email, Microsoft Office, social networking, e-devices and Internet training. The sessions are not for troubleshooting or hardware repair.

The library, at 5466 Broadway in the Village of Lancaster, can be reached at 683-1120. Parking is available in the lot at the library or at Trinity Episcopal Church, Lancaster Presbyterian Church, Potter’s House and the Moose Club.
