Lancaster DECA students Alexa Laska and Ryan Boling participated in the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California.

DECA, which initially stood for Distributive Education Clubs of America, has grown into an international organization devoted to combining real-life business and marketing skills with school curriculum.

According to a press release from the district, Laska competed in the advertising campaign event and Boling participated in business services operations research, in addition to being a voting delegate for the DECA National Board.

The two students earned the right to compete at the international level by ranking top in the state in their designated competition area in March.

The DECA International Career Development Conference is the culmination of the DECA year, according to the release.

More than 18,000 high school students, teacher-advisers, business professionals and alumni gathered for several days of DECA activities and competition.
