Polish Heritage Dancers start season

Alden Lancaster Art Club sets show

The Alden Lancaster Art Club will host an art show on Sunday, Sept. 10, along Broadway in the Village of Alden. There will be a raffle, chicken dinner and local art.

VFW Post to hold chicken dinner

Our Lady of Pompeii plans fall festival

Parish sets appliance and electronics raffle

Lancaster Oktoberfest welcomes all

The Citizens Hose Co. of the Lancaster Fire Department, in conjunction with the James Metz Foundation, will host the Lancaster Oktoberfest from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Our Lady of Pompeii school hall, 129 Laverack Ave. in Lancaster. There will be music by the Auslanders and homemade German food.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s set

VFW Post 7275 plans flea market

The Lt. Col. Matt Urban Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7275 will hold a flea market from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at 3741 Walden Ave., Lancaster. Vendor setup starts at 7 a.m., and the post will be serving food and drinks. A donation of nonperishable food for the WNY Homeless Veterans is appreciated. Library group hosts meat raffle

The Friends of the Lancaster Public Library will have its first meat raffle at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 4569 Broadway in Depew. Admission is $5 and includes beer, wine and pop; bring your own snacks. Those wishing to reserve a table for eight can do so for $35. The Hull Family Home and Farmstead will have its Recency Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, at 5976 Genesee Street in Lancaster. Learn how firewood was prepared for winter or how to shuck and grind corn. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for youth ages 10 to 18, and free for children ages 10 or younger.

Barbecue benefits good cause

The NYS Citizens Against Puppy Mills will have a chicken barbecue fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at the Elks Club, 33 Legion Drive in Lancaster.
