GreenFields raises $10,000 for Alzheimer’s Association

Residents at The Green- Fields Continuing Care Community in Lancaster presented a check of more than $10,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association of WNY.

According to Greenfields, residents were instrumental in raising what was described as critically needed funds.

Some residents at the Lancaster facility, among others, are debilitated by dementia and at times may be almost unrecognizable to loved ones, having been robbed of their memories.

With such a grim outlook, it can be hard to find hope, says the Greenfields staff.

“That’s why it’s so inspiring to know that a significant portion of the $10,000 was raised by the very people that Alzheimer’s has taken the most from: our residents and their families.”

The GreenFields’ residents may join the campus as a couple, often in its independent living facility, but face circumstances that require one of them to seek more specialized services, including dementia and memory care, according to information from the facility.

“For many residents, the separation from their loved ones is almost unbearable. If it weren’t for the continuing care concept at The Green- Fields, these residents would not have the opportunity to stay on campus together, only separated by the level of care that they receive.”

Greenfields reports that residents who have loved ones in memory care share a special bond, traveling at least once a day by bus across campus to visit with their loved ones.
