Lancaster

Saturday, Dec. 30

• A man was seen passed out in his car while it was parked with the engine running at Turbo Mart Gas Station on Genesee Street. One officer spoke with the man and found a half-empty bottle of Hennessy Cognac on the passenger-side floor. Visibly intoxicated, the man allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was picked up from the station by his wife. His car was towed, as there was passenger side damage and snow packed into the front grill of the vehicle. The driver was reportedly seen going off the roadway between Wehrle Drive and Genesee Street earlier that evening.

• Police responded to Walmart, at 4975 Transit Road, for a shoplifting in progress. A man and two women were reportedly seen placing merchandise in a bag and then attempting to pass all points of sale. The man was detained; officers were unable to find the two women.

Wednesday, Jan. 3

• A hit-and-run accident occurred in the parking lot of Walgreens on Broadway. A woman sitting inside her car observed a male driver pull up next to her car and open the door, hitting her car. The man went into the store and upon leaving, refused to exchange insurance information with the woman. The man’s license plate number was recorded, and officers are following up with him.

Thursday, Jan. 4

• Officers stopped to help a driver stuck in a snowbank at the corner of Transit Road and Walden Avenue. The male driver told officers he drove into the snowbank after another vehicle swerved into his lane to avoid a snowplow heading in the opposite direction on Transit Road. Officers could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath and asked him to complete field sobriety tests, which he reportedly failed. He had an alleged 0.14-percent blood alcohol level.

Friday, Jan. 5

A driver attempted to pass a Depew plow truck on the right along Transit Road, but the plow truck was turning into a 7-Eleven from the curb lane. The striking vehicle had heavy front-end damage and was towed. The plow truck sustained damage to the plow’s wing blade, passenger side wheel hub and side-view mirror.
