ABC Bel Canto to hold open house

The ABC Bel Canto Choir for grades three through 12 will have open house dates from 4:30 to 8:45 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 11, 18 and 25, at Christ United Methodist Church, 350 Saratoga Road in Amherst. St. John’s celebrates Polka Month

St. John the Baptist Church, 2028 Sandridge Road in Alden, will have a Polish Night to celebrate National Polka Month at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. St. Mary’s launches men’s group

St. Mary of the Assumption Parish will start HERD, Helping Each Other Revive Discipleship, a men’s group welcoming all faiths. It will meet from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays, Feb. 3, March 3, April 14 and May 12 in Room 140 of St. Mary’s Elementary School, 2 St. Mary’s Hill in Lancaster. Gatherings will focus on videos and literature through study and discussion. There is a $20 fee for study materials, and refreshments will be served. St. Mary’s High School has partnered with AAA of Central and Western New York to offer driver education classes to students and any members of the community. Eighth-grade info night to be held

Lancaster Middle School’s eighth-grade information night will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Lancaster High School, 1 Forton Drive. Eighth-graders and their parents will take guided tours with the help of current high-schoolers, rotating through a series of stations regarding counseling, business, technology and foreign language, among other subjects. Deacon Dave to speak at Pompeii

Deacon Dave Rotterman will present “Exploring the Caves of the Dead Sea” at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 158 Laverack Ave. in Lancaster. Hear the story of Rotterman’s expedition to the Cave of Letters along the Dead Sea. All are welcome, refreshments to follow.

VFW sets Winter Weenie Warmer

VFW AMVETS Post 7275 will have its Winter Weenie Warmer from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at 3741 Walden Ave. in Lancaster.
