SAVE THE DATE —Western New York is right in the middle of the winter blues.

Holidays have been over for more than a month, Mother Nature gives us some spring weather, then dumps snow on us, and Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow, meaning we have another six weeks of winter, if the groundhog is to be believed.

Now more than ever, we need to try our best to get outdoors, stay busy with friends and family, and wait out a couple of more months of winter until the weather becomes agreeable again.

One way to kick the winter blues is through the first Wildcat Family Snowshoe Walk from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 10, starting at the Depew High School multipurpose room and cafeteria, 5201 Transit Road in Depew.

The introductory class is open to all current Depew School District students and is a low-impact outdoor activity perfect for Western New York winters.

The event is free and will include basic instruction and organized activities led by members of the physical education department.

Mid-month, the Zonta Cheektowaga Lancaster Foundation is sponsoring a team trivia night. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the Cheektowaga Senior Center, 3349 Broadway.

A pizza dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., with trivia rounds following at 7:30 p.m. Teams can be between six and eight members, 21 years or older. The cost is $20 per person. Teams must preregister and prepay. The snow date is Friday, March 2.

For more information on the team trivia night, call 200-3351 or visit www.zontacheektowaga-lancaster.org.
