Lancaster Kiwanis meets biweekly

The Lancaster Kiwanis Club meets at 5:30 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Lancaster Municipal Building, 5423 Broadway, Lancaster.

Chamber to host women’s luncheon

The LACC Lunch Network for Women in Business will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Magruders, 4995 Broadway, Depew. Reservations are $15 per person for members and member guests, and includes a full lunch with beverages. Jillian Fiorella, FARM Marketing Agency, will speak about social media strategies to jump-start 2018.

Universal Pre-K program set

The Lancaster School District is accepting applications for a tuition-free universal prekindergarten program for the 2018-19 school year. The district’s UPK provider is located at 149 Central Ave. in Lancaster. Classes are offered from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 to 2:45 p.m. five days per week. Children must be 4 years old no later than Dec. 1, 2018, and a legal resident of the Lancaster Central School District. The application deadline is Friday, March 9. Bel Canto to perform at St. Paul’s

ABC Bel Canto Presto Choir will perform at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 139 Pearl St. in Buffalo, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9. The Presto choir is made up of third- to ninth-grade students from throughout Western New York. For information, visit www.abcbelcanto.org.

VFW Valentine’s dance planned

St. Mary’s clam chowder dinner set

St. Mary of the Assumption Church will hold its clam chowder dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14, in the parish center, 2 St. Mary’s Hill, Lancaster. Guests can enjoy New England clam chowder or tomato soup, grilled cheese or fish sandwich, dessert, and a nonalcoholic beverage for $8 per person. Sacred Heart to offer fish fry

Sacred Heart of Jesus Church will host a Krolick’s fish fry from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, at 5337 Genesee St., Bowmansville. The Lancaster Historical Society will present Tony Krtanjek, drummer for the 1980s band Replay, who will talk about the music scene in Buffalo more than 40 years ago. The monthly program starts at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at 40 Clark St., Lancaster.

‘Vagina Monologues’ come to Cheektowaga

St. Mary’s launches men’s group

St. Mary of the Assumption Parish is starting HERD, Helping Each Other Revive Discipleship, a men’s group welcoming all faiths. It will meet from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays, March 3, April 14 and May 12 in Room 140 of St. Mary’s Elementary School, 2 St. Mary’s Hill, Lancaster. Gatherings will focus on videos and literature through study and discussion. There is a $20 fee for study materials, and refreshments will be served. Rec Department offers swim lessons

The Town of Lancaster Recreation Department will offer swim lessons to Town of Lancaster and Lancaster School District residents at the high school pool, 1 Forton Drive, Lancaster.
