St. Mary’s to host practice exam

St. Mary’s High School will hold a practice exam for seventh-grade students looking to take the HSPT Catholic High School Admissions Exam this fall. The practice exam will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at 142 Laverack Ave., Lancaster. Reservations are $20. Lancaster Women’s Civic Club to meet

The Lancaster Women’s Civic Club will meet at noon Wednesday, March 14, at the Lancaster Municipal Building, 5423 Broadway. Helen Markham will present “Don’t Let Age Get You Down, It’s Too Hard to Get Back Up.”

Val’s 29th Dyngus Day weekend set

Rec Department offers swim lessons

The Town of Lancaster Recreation Department will offer swim lessons to Town of Lancaster and Lancaster School District residents at the high school pool, 1 Forton Drive, Lancaster. Lessons will be held Monday or Thursday evenings until April 26. Classes include Toddler Swim, Learn to Swim, Advanced Swim and Special Needs Swim. Polka lessons offered before Dyngus Day

The First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association Branches 630 and 534 are sponsoring polka dance lessons from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, March 14 and 21, at St. Casimir Social Center, 1833 Clinton St., Buffalo. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $15 with a partner, or $10 single, for each class. Sign up for all three sessions with a partner for $40 or as a single for $25. Trinity Episcopal sets spring breakfast

Craft show to benefit Cub Scouts

The Lancaster Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its Lunch Network for Women in Business at noon Thursday, March 15, at Magruders, 4995 Broadway in Depew. Robert Jones with the Breast Cancer Network of WNY will speak about supporting women with a breast cancer diagnosis. The cost is $15 per person for members and member guests and includes lunch with beverages.

Historical society to host radio club

The Lancaster Historical Society will feature Luke Calliano, founding member of the Lancaster Amateur Radio Club, who will talk about the history of radio, at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at 40 Clark St. in Lancaster. Calliano will also share his personal experience of relaying an SOS call from a ship in the Pacific Ocean, which he received on his radio in Lancaster.

Drug Abuse Coalition sets next meeting

The Lancaster, Depew and Cheektowaga Drug Abuse Coalition will hold its next meeting at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at the Lancaster Youth Bureau, 200 Oxford Ave. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month.
