St. John the Baptist to hold Soup Supper

St. John the Baptist School’s Soup Supper will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in the school’s cafeteria, 2028 Sandridge Road, Alden. Dinner will include homemade soup, bread, salad, dessert and beverage for $5.

St. Mary of Assumption sets ‘Catholicism’ series

St. Mary of the Assumption Church will present the DVD series titled “Catholicism” in 12 sessions, ending in Lent 2014. Sessions will be held at 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and 25, and March 4 at 1 St. Mary’s Hill in the Parish Center. To register, call the rectory at 683-6445.

Bereavement support group scheduled

The McGuire Group will hold a free bereavement support session at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Harris Hill Nursing Facility, 2699 Wehrle Drive, Lancaster, for anyone coping with grief, sadness or loss. The program is titled “Renewal and Reinvention” and will discuss the importance of taking time for personal renewal and rejuvenation during the grieving process. Railroad Club to host open houses in January

The Model Railroad Club of Buffalo, will host its open house event from noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 18-19 and 25-26 at The Boys & Girls Club of Tonawanda, 54 Riverdale Ave. It is $5 for immediate family of club members;$2peradult;andchildren younger than 6 years old are free.
