Lapsit Story Time for 3- to 23-month-olds with a parent or a caregiver is being held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays, through April 14, and April 28 through May 19.

Story Time for 2- to 5-year-olds with a parent or a caregiver is being held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Fridays, through April 10, and May 1 through May 22.

Movin’ & Groovin’ for 2- to 5-year-olds includes dancing, yoga and interpretive movement from 11:30 a.m. to noon Fridays, through April 10, and May 1 through May 22.

Once Upon A Time Preschool Story and Craft Hour will be presented by Mary Jo from the SPCA for children ages 2 to 5 at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 8.

Kaleidoscope & Color for 6- to 12-year-olds will explore the science of light and color through art and participants will build their own kaleidoscope at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9.

Free Math Tutoring is being taught by a New York State-certified math teacher for students in grades three through nine. The class runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays.


Teen Gaming, where participants can “exergame,” will take place from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Fridays.

Junior Friends of the Library, for 12- to 18-year-olds, is an opportunity for participants to volunteer, fundraise and sponsor youth-oriented programs. To join, call Miss Gwen at the library or email cassidyg@buffalolib.org.


Movie Mania will feature a free screening of “Guardians of the Galaxy” on Saturday, April 11. The movie begins at 2 p.m., and attendees should bring their own treats, pillow and blankets.


Friends of Lancaster Library is accepting new members from 1 to 2 p.m. the second Thursday of every month.

Lancaster Library Board meetings will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. every third Monday of the month from March to June and September to December and from 1 to 3 p.m. the third Thursday of every month in July and August.

Book Group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month and is accepting new members. Call 681-3325 to register and obtain a list of upcoming books.

iPad Basics will include information about touch screens, settings, keyboards and common apps from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 9.

Registration is required for all events, unless otherwise noted. The Lancaster Public Library serves residents of Lancaster and Depew. The library, at 5466 Broadway in the Village of Lancaster, can be reached at 683-1120. Parking is available in the lot at the library or at Trinity Episcopal Church, Lancaster Presbyterian Church, Potter’s House and the Moose Club.

10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; noon - 5 p.m. Sunday.

From September through May, the Lancaster Library is able to provide seven-day-per-week service through the community’s generous donations. Donations are gratefully accepted to help provide this continued service.

The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library offers downloadable eBooks, audiobooks and videos that can be listened to or viewed on your computer and transferred to a portable device. There are never any late fees. Titles automatically return to the library’s collection. This service allows patrons with a valid library card to download materials to their devices for free.
