Story Times

Lapsit Story Time for 3- to 23-month-olds with a parent or a caregiver is being held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays from July 11 to Aug. 15.

Toddler Time for 2- to 3-year-olds with a parent or a caregiver is being held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays from July 11 to Aug. 15.

Pre-School Story Time for 3- to 5-year-olds with a parent or a caregiver is being held at 10:30 a.m. Fridays from July 14 to Aug. 18.

Children’s Specials

Movin’ & Groovin’ with Miss Gwen for 2- to 5-year-olds promotes learning and physical fitness and includes dancing, yoga and interpretive movement, from 11:30 a.m. to noon Fridays, July 14 to Aug. 18.

Independent Reading and Read-to-me Program takes place from Friday, June 23, to Saturday, Aug. 26. Children in these programs will read on their own or with a parent/guardian and keep track of the time read in their reading logs. As reading goals are met, children receive prizes along the way.

Tech Fridays Makerspace gives 5- to 10-year-olds a chance to try out new gadgets such as Osmo, Sphero, Little Bites, Cubelets and Snap Circuits at 2 p.m. Friday, June 23, July 21 and Aug. 18.

Free Math Tutoring for grades three to nine is available from 6 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday. NYS-certified math teacher Catherine Thielmann will be on hand.

Vacation Time Craft will start at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, for children ages 5 to 12, presented by the Lancaster Youth Bureau.


Battle of the Books is a countywide trivia contest culminating in a “battle” at Erie Community College. Team practice sessions for students in grades six through nine will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays until Aug. 2. Final playoffs will be Saturday, Aug. 5.

Junior Friends of the Library, for 12- to 18-year-olds, is an opportunity for participants to volunteer, raise funds and sponsor youth-oriented programs. A meeting will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, June 23. To join, call Miss Gwen at the library or email cassidyg@buffalolib.org.

Teen Gaming takes place from 3 to 4:45 p.m. every Friday. “Exergame” with Wii video games and board games. Snacks are provided.


Movie Mania will continue with “Moana” July 8, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” Aug. 12, and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” Sept. 16. All movies will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Chess and Classic Board Game Club meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of each month. Participants should bring their own boards, and those younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult.


Yoga for Adults sessions will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursdays through June 29. Certified yoga instructor Peggy Basin will help participants start the spring season off right with this healthy activity. Space is limited, and those interested are encouraged to bring their own mat.

Friends of Lancaster Library is accepting new members from 1 to 2 p.m. the second Thursday of every month. The group is always looking for new members.

Lancaster Library Board meetings will be held at 3 p.m. every third Thursday of the month.

Book Group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month and is accepting new members. Call Annette at 860-2476 or email twistedrose64@msn.com to register and obtain a list of upcoming books.

Adult Social Knitting Group meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month. All experience levels are welcome.

Adult Computer Training

Book a technology trainer for one-on-one assistance with software support or Internet training; sessions are not designed to troubleshoot computer problems or repair hardware. Call 683-1120 to register for a 45-minute appointment.
