BBB’s Secure Your ID Day is Saturday, Oct 7

To help combat ID theft and educate the public on best practices to secure personal information, Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York will host “Se- cure Your ID Day” from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 7. This free community shredding event will be held at Tops Friendly Markets at 355 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca; 3865 Union Road, Cheektowaga; 3507 Mt. Read Blvd., Greece; and 2265 Downer St., Baldwinsville, in the parking lots. Volunteers will be on hand to distribute safety tips.

Family Promise of WNY to host Choc-toberfest

Family Promise of WNY, a community organization providing temporary shelter and support to families experiencing homelessness in Western New York, will host its third annual Choc-toberfest at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Resurgence Brewing Company. Tickets are $25 in advance, with a free drink given with any tickets purchased before the event, or $30 if purchased at the event. The evening will feature a celebration of all things chocolate, along with a basket auction, door prizes, a wine cork pull and raffles. To learn more, call 771-3007.

Firm schedules employment law seminar

Bond, Schoeneck & King will host a labor and employment law seminar from 8:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Kleinhans Music Hall, 3 Symphony Circle, Buffalo. A host of new employment laws are in store for employers, as well as a number of potential changes at the federal level.
