Friends of Reinstein Woods Events

The following events are scheduled at the Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve, 93 Honorine Drive, Depew, unless otherwise noted. For more information or to register for a specific event, call 683-5959.

After-School Escape

Children and their parents or caregivers can participate in a different hour-long outdoor activity each week. The program, for children in kindergarten through grade five, is at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8. The program is free, and no registration is required.

Learn to Cross-Country Ski

Head to Reinstein Woods at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, to learn the basics of cross-country skiing before going on a short, guided ski tour. Ski rentals cost $8, or $5 for Friends of Reinstein members. Registration is required.

Woods Walk: Nature guide’s choice

Join a guided nature walk through the woods at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. No registration is required.

Winter Wonderland in the Woods

Discover the woods in winter during the annual Winter Wonderland in the Woods celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. Try snowshoes or cross-country skis for free, go on a winter scavenger hunt and make snow art. Enjoy ice-fishing demonstrations, winter crafts for kids and more. Medicinal Herb Walk

Discover the medicinal values of the wild herbs that grow in Reinstein Woods. For adults and children ages 12 and older. The program is at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16. Registration is required.

Birding 101: Class No. 2

This is a continuation of the Birding 101 series that started in January, but new participants are welcome to this bird identification adventure at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17. The program is for adults and children ages 8 and older. Registration is required.

Family Snowshoe Walk

Take a morning snowshoe walk along the trails to look for evidence of wildlife at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22. Snowshoe rentals cost $5, or $2 for Friends of Reinstein members. Registration is required.

Winter Nature Play

Enjoy a variety of nature play activities, including snow and twig sculptures, evergreen painting, animal tracking and more at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23. The program is for children in kindergarten through grade five. Registration is required.

Stories in the Woods

Hear a nature story, followed by a guided walk in the woods, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24. The program is for children ages 3 to 7, and registration is required.
