Freedom Car race set for speedway

Lancaster National Speedway will have its Freedom Car race, featuring Jerick Johnson, driver of the 76 POW-MIA Freedom Car, at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at 57 Gunnville Road in Lancaster. Johnson is sponsored by My Computer Career. The Freedom Car will also be at the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 12, to Saturday, July 14, at Hyde Park, 3200 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls.

Hull House offers survival class

Lancaster’s Hull Family Home and Farmstead will offer a survival class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at 5976 Genesee St. Topics covered in the class include survival tools, rescue techniques, wild plant usage and survival psychology tips. The cost is $55 per person. Call 837-0893 to register. Age range for the class is 16 to 96 and is limited to 12 people; participants must bring their own lunch.

Holy Mother slates barbecue

Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral will hold a chicken barbecue dinner, drive-thru only, from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, July 18, Aug. 15 and Sept. 19, at 6298 Broadway, Lancaster. Dinners are $11 and include potato, vegetable, roll, butter and dessert.

Polish Falcons sets car cruise

The Polish Falcons will hold its second annual Super Car Cruise from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at 445 Columbia Ave. in Depew. Proceeds will benefit the Homeless Female Veterans Shelter. Express Employment Professionals will offer a job fair for local vets and other job seekers from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Lt. Col. Matt Urban Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7275, 3741 Walden Ave. in Lancaster.

Holy Mother to offer Bible school

Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral will offer Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, to Thursday, July 19, at 6298 Broadway in Lancaster. Depew Founders’ Day slated for July

Depew Founders’ Day will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 20, and noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 21, in Veterans Park on Terrace Boulevard. Details will be released closer to the event.

Library plans Krolick’s barbecue

The Lancaster Public Library will hold its Krolick’s chicken barbecue in conjunction with the Lancaster Garden Walk from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at 5466 Broadway in Lancaster. Dinners are $11 and will be served until they are sold out. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of Lancaster Public Library’s “Keep the Lights On” program to keep the library open on Sundays. Golf fundraiser set for St. Mary’s

A golf tournament to benefit St. Mary of the Assumption Parish and St. Mary’s Elementary School will take place at 9 a.m. Monday, July 23, at Chestnut Hill Country Club, 1330 Broadway in Darien Center. Hull House to hold history camp

The Hull Family Home and Farmstead will hold its history camp for kids from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, July 23, to Friday, July 27, at 5976 Genesee St. in Lancaster. Students entering grades five through eight will have the opportunity to learn about life in WNY in the early 1800s. Benefit to be held for Pastor Ron

Grace In Community Church, the Buffalo City Mission and community members will have a benefit for Pastor Ron Field from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Marilla Fire Hall, 1950 West Ave. Pastor Field was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and the community is looking to defray costs for him and his family. Alden Farmers Market varies weekly

The Alden Farmers Market will have a raffle day Saturday, July 28, for a basket with gift certificates, Lotto tickets, and special offers from local businesses. Tickets are $1. St. Mary’s WINGS to show movies
